Third Day in London- Learning to be Flexible

Well…everything we had originally planned to do on the third day in London basically went down the drain. Brittany got sick with a cold and I wasn’t feeling so great either. We had to change our plans a bit so we could rest.

After we slept in, we had breakfast and went to the tower of London. A Yeoman Warder gave us a tour. He was so hilarious! He reminded us of Craig Ferguson. After the tour we went to see the Crown jewels. It was really impressive to see how ornate everything was. There was a sceptre that contained the world’s largest perfect diamond. It is 530 carats!! The dinnerware was made out of pure gold and had so many details carved into it. I wouldn’t want to be the person that has to clean those plates!

Originally, we wanted to go to Tate Modern Museum and return to the National Gallery, but we felt it would be better to spend our time resting instead. We bought Brittany some cold medicine and returned to the hostel for a nap.

We had tickets for opening night of Romeo and Juliet at the Old Globe Theater, and as luck would have it, it was also the date typically celebrated as Shakespeare’s birthday. So after we took our nap, we put on our pretty dresses and hopped on the tube to the Old Globe Theater. It was incredible to see Romeo and Juliet in the setting it was originally performed in. It was also a lot funnier and sexual then I originally remembered it being when I studied it in high school!

We then went back to the hostel and called it a night. Luckily we were flexible and let ourselves rest because we both felt better the next day.
