Planning 103: Hostels

It's good to book your hostels before you leave. You can read reviews of hostels, figure out what they offer, get a feel for where they are in the city...basically you get an idea of what you're getting yourself into!

Helpful links that I used religiously:

HostelWorld: Tons of information about hostels, including detailed reviews from people who have stayed there. However, I wouldn't recommend booking here because they charge you extra fees.

HostelBookers: We used this site to book pretty much all of our hostels. Their prices were always cheaper then anywhere else on the web, including booking directly with the hostels. However, make sure you double check because we got a crazy good deal once for booking directly with one of our hostels!

And don't forget to send a quick email to each hostel confirming your reservation.
