The Scottish Can't Make Milkshakes...

Today we flew to Edinburgh! It is much colder here than it was in Dublin or London. We are staying in a charming bed and breakfast here run by a cute Scottish couple. It is a nice change from a hostel full of screaming teenagers! The guy who runs the bed and breakfast tried to explain to us how to get around the city and we could barely understand him. Sometimes it doesn't even seem like the Scots are speaking English their accents are so strong!

We did manage to figure out the bus system, though, and made our way to Edinburgh Castle. It was so picturesque, situated at top a grassy hill overlooking the city. It was really cool to walk around the stone castle and see the museums inside and the Scottish Crown Jewels.

After that we headed down the Royal Mile and decided to go to the Camera Obscura. It had a bunch of cool exhibits with different optical illusions. On the top floor they had a huge camera that was built in the late 1800s where you can look at people walking in the streets around Edinburgh.

We then had dinner at The Filling Station, an American-style diner. We ordered burgers and shakes. It was funny to have American food in Scotland because it all tasted a little bit off. The biggest differences were the milkshakes. They weren't really milkshakes at all. More like frothy milk. They needed more ice cream and flavor. And Claire was very disappointed that there was no whipped cream and no cherry.
That was it for today. More Edinburgh tomorrow!
